[Novalug] firefox update weirdness

I have done the following:

Look to see where a particular distro installs FF and where the
.mozilla/stuff/firefox is at

as root, make a copy of the stuff in the install dir
empty that dir
download the latest distro and install it into THAT dir
.
.
this gave me a new and clean install

the only things one should need to copy from the old profile are bookmarks . .
. maybe pref file.

Or, try your "uninstaller" and do a fresh install of FF
