Seven words, "You are paranoid on a meaningless way."

Accessing the wild and woolly Internet {note the capital 'I'} over a
"dial up" {which is all that your "phone[1]" offers} is no more SAFER
then an open Wi-Fi.

All you have to do to protect yourself in either case is have a properly
configured Firewall and use encrypted protocols for any sensitive data.

[1] - Besides bluetooth is easier to crack then TCP/IP over Wi-Fi.
