It's been a while, but yep, your logs look familiar. My motherboard
is an Asus, iirc, about three or four years old. I think it came with
six various usb ports internal and external, some 1.1 and some 2.0.
(Why mixed? No idea.) You could of course tell which type you're
plugging the hub into by unplugging the hub and sticking the memory
stick directly into the port and see what the logs say. I'm betting
it will be the same ... but if you dig out the motherboard manual you
may be able to reconfigure the internals to feed 2.0 to that port.
(Don, I know you will have got this far on your own by now but I
thought some onlookers might be interested.)
My device was a Sandisk also, a one-gig titanium, and I have used a
lot of sandisk usb sticks for work and they've all performed without a
hitch. About the drivers in XP ... I don't think I ever plugged mine
into an XP machine so can't be of much help there. I know with other
Sandisk sticks I usually just delete everything on the stick under
linux on first use -- I don't want my users to be using the
Windows-only encryption so they won't work when plugged into a linux
machine. (I would like them to be using some type of encryption that
would be relatively transparent on both platforms, but that's another
thread.)
