[Novalug] [OT] Not so silly question

Rich,

I purchased from ebay a plug-in adapter (cigarette-lighter type) for a
cell phone that I took to Spain - much cheaper than on Motorola's site.
I found that the usb-type plug also mated with my Palm PDA so I used it
with no problems to keep both running for three weeks, thereby avoiding
carrying two bricks and two car chargers.

The thing to check is the output voltage and current (amperage) on the
AC charger you use for the device you want to hook up. If the voltage is
correct and the output is sufficient (to avoid over heating), it should
work. At least that's what I did! As someone else pointed out, the
current required to charge most devices is pretty small - else, one
could not depend on the lot output of a USB port.
