 	Afaik, this one is in no need of repair; it's the 
infamous counter-intuitive user interface that gripes us -- the 
one that some people like because they grew up with it...

 	Thanks; they don't seem to have any laptops at all right 
now.

 	My wife gave me a desktop (which I still run) as a 
retirement present, and I gave her this one. Much as I have 
learned to detest Steve Jobs and all his works, the matter of 
sentiment persists -- if only like an old scar ...

 	It looks so far as if I'm likely to let him have it for 
something on the order of 1/10 what I've spent on it. He has 
worked on it -- he's the guy who re-installed FC6 for me when I 
got it so bollixed trying to install roadnav that it wouldn't do 
anything any more. He fell in love with it at that point.

 	Also, if I sell it to him rather than give it to him, he 
won't try to give it back someday ...
