Dan,
I'm guessing not. I replaced the USB keyboard with a PS/2 keyboard
and tried again. The flashdrive blinks several times, then goes dark.
The machine knows there's a USB mass storage device plugged in, but
I can't figure which /dev/xxxx thingie it is - tried all the usual
tricks, but "mount" borks with a
mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device
ditto for sda, sdbx, and painfully so on.
So, I'm doing the natural thing and recompling the kernel. Seems
this is a fairly common problem, based on Google. The solution isn't
common, though. :P
