As I mentioned, I felt funny about that, because it had
been Jo's retirement present from me. But we talked and she
concurred.

So we inivited him over last night, told him Bonnie's
point about Apples suddenly biting the dust (which didn't bother
him -- he's a full time repair tech as well as an Apple fancier
-- but he's been duly warned), and sure enough ended up giving it
to him scot-free. Told him that's the way we do things in the
linux culture (some people call it paying debts forward) -- and
didn't have to say it's part of why we stick to linux.

It's also one of the ways linux reminds me of the Old
West, parts and live memories of which were still there in my
time.

Our thanks to all for the advice, and especially to Greg
and Bonnie!
