Thanks for the commentary - I have found a lawyer.

Since it is related to dog registration and the abbreviations are used by
all breeders to describe the registration status of their dogs, the
abbreviations are an adjective as well as the abbreviations of name of the
registry.

Since their primary purpose is to register dogs, not to sell them (the
individuals with using the registry sell the dogs), then having a web site
for people selling *kc dogs is not infringing on their income stream. They
do not require that people selling *kc dogs only advertise through *kc.

If they did people would probably quickly go over to alternative
registries.

For 100 years and years people have been putting ads in print media
of this format:

Transylvanian Toadhound pups (*KC), 8 weeks old, real old world stock,
rare bat-winged variety, cute, house-breaking, bundles of fur and fangs
guarenteed to mature into night metamorphosing bloodsuckers. home reared.
phone: 555 666 6666 midnite to 2AM.


and the *KC has NEVER required that people refrain from using the
designation of the registry in describing the puppies as long as they 
are indeed *KC registered.
