I think it is a good idea, XE, because it gets Oracle into the hands
of people using other free $RDBMS and allows them to see how it works.
For the home user or someone building a web app for small or personal
use, it would be fine. And if I am an Oracle DBA by day, don't need to
learn something new. 

Now, the larger dicussion is around Oracle in general as a technology.

Let's not get into Larry bashing (although I love it and am not sure
who I dislike more from a business pov, LE or BG).
