[Novalug] GFS?

I suppose I should have given more detail in my question. This IS for data
replication across SANs, two of them, that will be geographically seperated.
Think "redundant mail cluster." So sure, I know how to cut DNS and do all
kinds of tricks with the network load balancers but I always end up with the
same single point of failure, the data.
I've always liked NetAPP but really, thats beyond the cost of this project.
In fact, it will just make it not happen. If there isn't a way to do it
reliably cheaper, it will end up just a single location (no redundant
cluster) and I really think this would be a cool project to do, IF It can be
done :-)
Is anyone doing anything similar? That is not with a NetAPP or some vendor
magic, but with plain old NAS and Open Source software?
