[Novalug] e-mail problem

Got something weird happening on a list I administer.

One of the members uses Verizon. Every time he tries to send any 
attachment, he gets an error message saying the SMTP server is 
unavailable. When he removes the attachment, it goes through.

Can someone point me to a clue?
