Yes, I know; I've driven at least three of them into the
ground, one from brand new to junkyard.

It's worse than that. Woke up early (before 6:00 -- and
it's Sunday; normal for me lately has been 9 - 10); came
downstairs; and started puttering. Soon decided to give up on it
for the nonce, and get some work done.

Id est, re-introduce each machine, by its lonesome, to
all the peripherals, including this time an older and well-known
mouse. All swam. Plugged the whole shebang back together -- and
not a one of them could see this mouse, either!

Re-checked and re-rechecked every last connection,
keeping track. Not a thing loose anywhere.

When I got through blowing my stack, I started swapping
mice and adapters back and forth -- two of each, in pairs each
identical to all appearance. No joy.

Finally decided it must be the never to be sufficiently
accursed SWITCH its very own self. Dug out its twin -- by dumb
luck, I had one; swapped every blessed connector OFF one switch
and ONTO the other, keeping track by main strength which was
which.

Result, perfection -- except, of course, that it's an OLD
mouse. But I'm giving mighty fine odds, when I find the strength
to do another nine yards, the new blue mouse will sail clear.

And I have dab it Beetle, whether it likes it or not --
with a lightsword. (Dub, dab, dub like run, ran, run. The
question, says Lewis Carroll's Humpty Dumpty, is which is to be
master.) So there. Fight me, will it?

MONDAY : Well, I walked right into a sucker-punch; maybe
asked for it.

Got everything working flawlessly with a normal mouse.
Shut it all down, went through all nine yards with the Blue Light
Mouse yet again, meticulously. Put it all back behind the second
KVM switch. No mouse.

Had a good stiff drink, then dinner. Took a vast deep
breath -- and did it all over yet again, with a known good mouse.
Result : no mouse.

Now I'm thinking those gawdawful things *break* KVM
switches.

When I get some breakfast, I plan to go buy another new
KVM switch -- some brand I haven't had before.

And never touch another Blue Light Mouse to any machine
on my desk again.

[Exit right, tearing remnants of beard and whimpering.]
