with Ubuntu Edgie I have had no problems with my old gateway lap top with
either an old Netgear 802.11b wireless PC card or with the newer SMCc
802.11g wireless card. However neither of them would work with Feisty Fawn
when I upgraded to it a few weeks ago so I dumped Feisty and went back to
Edgie.

For the cost of the postage or if he wanted to visit i would give him the
netgear (it is disguised as a Comcast wireless PCI card)

Unfortunately I am in Baltimore not in DC/N VA.
