So, after reading Doug's post I tried:

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # ntop
bash: ntop: command not found

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # rpm -q yum
yum-2.4.2-13

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # yum check-update

No Repositories Available to Set Up
Reading repository metadata in from local files

Must be Monday... :-(

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # yum install ntop

I seem to see a common malady ...but as yet been unsuccessful sourcing
the how-to.

"Setting up repositories

OpenSuse101:/etc # cat yum.conf

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # uname -a

So I asked my friend Google, and she said
http://linux-poison.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-to-use-yum.html
http://wiki.linux.duke.edu/YumFaq
Q. 2: Where do I find a repository to update my system which is running
distribution <XYZ>?

A. We have no idea. Your distribution should maintain their own list on
this subject. If they don't support yum but you want to use it anyway
you are probably going to have to make your own repository.

Geeze ...she's a bit testy today!

So I asked Google for the RPM(ntop-3.2-17.i586.rpm)
...downloaded it and tried:

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # rpm -Uvh ntop-3.2-17.i586.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
        libgd.so.2 is needed by ntop-3.2-17.i586

>:o

OpenSuse101/home/chuck # blink...blink...blink...blink...blink...blink...

Now what?

Thx!

(please hold the "Try Unbuntu 7.04" suggestions ...my other 3 systems
are already running Feisty)
