 	IF that is true, or even accepted by consensus, then its 
truth is a recent development. Back when I began life as a pure 
mathematician (fifty years ago) it was very much an open question 
in the philosophy of mathematics whether what we did was create 
or discover or some third thing. And whether the distinction even 
made sense.
