Very off-topic but ... many her may have some insight.... Is there
anything nefarious being done by/in Winderz when updating/installing the
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Yep ... the proverbial "window"'s now open for all the puns ... "Remove
'dat der malicious winderz $%^#!" "Install <insert your distro du jour
here> and get rid of the malicious stuff!"

Seriously though, I have XP Pro in a VM. I constantly am prompted for a
few "critical updates" from M$. Even though I click do not ask me every
again to do this ... M$ asks me to do this (What part of NO don't they
get?? Other than all of it???). I can see M$ reaching back into the
WGA stuff to verify this is real (which it is) but then this could
simply be someone being overly paranoid. Moi? Oui!! Oui!! (now let me
got down to the boys room ....)

So, is there something I should be afraid of or is this a truly useful
thing to do?

Rich

Remember, all Windows machines are, by definition, fault tolerant.

              They run Windows don't they!!
