Experience and reccommendations sought, please.

I need a simple check tracking program and a paysheet, employee payment
type program. Would help if both were in the same program but not
absolutely necessary.

I don't mind a commercial application if it is not too expensive -
especially a combo ap could be up to $250 to $300 if good. If a
commercial ap then I would hope it would have a MAC Os X versions as well 
as linux. No windows only programs.

Currently I am doing all of this with a spreadsheet and I need something
easier to use as cut and paste on the spreadsheet leads to errors.

This is for a very small business. 20 checks written a month, 30 to
50 checks deposited a month, 3 part time employees.
