I can do this - but be sure that the file is complaint for whichever linux 
text format you have in your desktop. I had problems with some of my amiga 
csv files because they were actually the old dos format and had some 
'non-english characters' in old dos formatting in them.

when you go to open the "file2import.csv" you get a import gadget

you can set character set with it
you have a lot of choices for 'separated by'

make sure comma is checked
is the file only comma separated or does it have 
"," separation for text fields?

you need to specify the quote as your text deliminator

you can also merge delimiters.
then it will give you an image in the lower window which is the way it 
sees the file.

sometimes it will not like the way the lines end in your file. i have run 
into this with hand made csv files. 

try making a small version of your csv file and playing around with it. 
that may give you a hint on what is going on.
