I haven't seen the Sales Engineery marketing slicks for this
particular checkpoint product, but I am using another, similar product
for a work system.
The product I'm using is fairly seamless; normal system use has not
been hampered, and past the login screen at boot, there is very little
difference from pre-encryption system responsiveness.
The encryption process utilizing my employer's encryption mechanism of
choice was, however, very long, ~48hrs of continuous encryption time
before it completed for a 120GB hd. It should be noted that this
particular encryption process could be interrupted, you may want to
see what PointSec says about this piece.
As with everything, your mileage may vary, therefore the best solution
is to test it on your own systems. I also wouldn't jump on a
bandwagon for whole disk encryption if your developers were not mobile
users, (ie have desktops locked down to an office).
Thanks,
Matt
