For Ubuntu did you check out:
"main menu" -> Games -> "FreeCell Solitaire"
To place an ICON to start the Game/program on your desktop do:
Right-Click on the "menu entry" and select "Add this entry to the
Desktop"
If somehow you really did figure out how to install Ubuntu without
installing the Game Pack then install the package "gnome-games" by
executing:
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-games
