If you have enough space, I'd do:

- copy the content of the backup over the NTFS partition. Reboot to see 
everything is fine. Probably the size of the hard drive will be less 
(unless you have kept the same size). What I normally do to keep the 
backup size down is to shrink the drive to the smallest size possible. 
Normally is a fresh install with all the software installed (with no 
licenses) and all the patches updated.

- Use gparted to resize the hard drive to the size you want to, 
including removing the old FAT partition that you don't want.

Be aware that Dell laptops usually keep a small partition for 
troubleshooting your laptop.
