I would see if you can somehow turn off ACPI by
passing it as an option on kernel command line and see
what happens.

The installer should have kernel options by pressing
some F* key instead of just hitting enter.

A quick search on Google returned this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=715344

This may get you down the right track.

Also, question: Does any LiveCD distro boot up okay?
Say, Ubuntu Live, Knoppix, DSL? If any of those boot
up okay, then you might glean some hints from kernel
params that worked.

One other option may be to try NetBSD Unix. The goal
of NetBSD is to run on as much hardware that exists as
possible.

Good Luck.
