I'm sending this copy to the list since I already looked up the
information for the reply and I hope that some one will find it useful.
Plus I wanted to point out that because of your improperly written SMTP
filter I will be receiving for the NEXT WEEK are so:
"Subject:
Delivery Notification: Delivery has
timed out and failed"

I'm no expert on the subject by a long shot,
but I was a Master Plumber in a former life.

Those are all "Water Filter USA" buzzwords (and/or copywrited terms)
www.waterfilter-usa.com
Google for: water softener CaC03
for other useful information on the subject

Well that depends on what you mean by what your saying.
See

The section on "HARDNESS IN WATER" for complete details
But the following two quotes more properly explain what the Salesman is
saying:
| When calcium and magnesium salts are present as sulfate (SO4-),
| chloride (Cl-) or nitrate (N03-), the hardness is called
| non-carbonate. Non-carbonate hardness will not precipitate by simply
| heating and thus is sometimes called permanent hardness. Both
| temporary and permanent hardness can exist together in a water supply.
And
| Total hardness is the sum of calcium and magnesium. A typical water
| analysis will show calcium, magnesium, and total hardness in
| milligrams per liter (mg/l) or grains per US gallon (gpg). When the
| term hardness is used, the value is always expressed in terms of
| calcium carbonate equivalence (as CaC03). Most water analysis will
| report calcium and magnesium individually in mg/l as the elements. In
| addition they will report either total hardness in grains per gallon
| expressed as a calcium carbonate equivalent or as Total Hardness which
| is a total sum of hardness in mg/l as CaCO3. To convert Total Hardness
| to grains per gallon simply divide by 17.1 .

If you are talking about that "White Scale" that they always show in the
pictures of it built up in pipes and water heaters, once it gets
deposited it's there for the duration, nothing other then possible
rooting it out with an auger will remove it from a drinking system..

Don't let them discharge the brine into a septic (or sewer for that
matter) it will KILL the bacteria that makes the septic-tank work.
