The last place where I had both a softener and a septic tank (over 10
years since I lived there) we just discharged the brine onto the side of
the gravel driveway. {-: Made for an icy walk some winter mornings, :-}

The best choice would be a Storm-Sewer or drainage ditch where it will
quickly get mixed with fresh water from other sources.
