FWIW, I'm running 64-bit Gentoo w/ the 32-bit libs installed in /lib32
for compatibility stuff.  Currently /lib64 is 41M, and /lib32 is just
shy of 5M.  Even if it was as large as /lib64, on reasonably modern
drives the space cost of having the extra libs around is negligible.
