I'm just curious as to how many people are using this amazing utility?
For those who don't know it is an application similar to the classic
unix 'top' command that shows what processes are using up CPU time.
Powertop takes a power-use oriented look at process activity with the
idea that when the laptop has something genuine to do, it should do it,
but when your application or a system service isn't really needed, it
should try to sit in a state of lowest power use. Run powertop and
monitor your system and it makes wonderful recommendations about
services you can turn off, features you can disable, and timings you can
change that will lower your power requirements.
It was also neat to see my laptop go from using 18W to 14.5W just by
lowering the LCD backlight from highest to lowest.
Anyway, anyone used this for considerable results?
