[Novalug] NVIDIA 8600GTS card

I picked up an NVIDIA 8600GTS from Microcenter and am configuring it.  I
used Yast on SLED 10 SP2  (AMD64 system) to get the NVIDIA drivers for
it.  Silly me, assumed that when YAST installed it, that was it
(http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html#8 indicates
this to me).  

Aside from compiling the kernel, does anyone have a pointer as to what I
should do next?

This is to be a SecondLife system with dual monitors under Linux.  I
will be getting (or using some dedicated space) for Linux "learning."
Any interest in the groups??
