I have a friend with 2 teenagers. She also of course has a windows
system with FIOS hookup.
She is getting tired of all the malware the kids are enabling on the
system when they go to various teen attractive websites. Trying to
educate them not to click on things that pop up and install them
without question does not seem to be working.
Since she keeps some of her personal data on the computer she is more
worried about that being compromised as she is about the kids going to
porn sites.
I suggested that we go down to PCRetro and buy the kids an older machine
with Linux on them so the kids could be online without having to use her
computer. However I think she still wants some parental control software
to be on the system. She intercepted a message a while back having to do
with her daughter (14) settiing up a meeeting with an unknown stranger at
a mall. This sort of thing worries parents no matter what one thinks about
individual freedom.
