Can you? Sure. You are going to get massive attenuation and reflection 
on the wire, and it probably (not I said probably) wont work over a very 
long distance unless you address these situtations, BUT, coming from 
someone who once wired a thin net using a big 4 way X connector to 4 
different workstations, I see no reason why it wouldnt work. Work well 
is a whole other story.
