I recently looked at an online catalog... JAMECO? And it had several RS-232 capable meters.
Maybe search google for meter serial or meter rs-232.
The Radio SHack one, has improved ranges and can read diodes and transistors. I used it to test the amp hours on a battery. For my previous company. I lauhged when they thought it would be an expensive undertaking. Radio Shack meter, old PC with Microshaft Windows, and a few wires. Hardware minus PC and Microshaft, < 100.
Here is a sourceforge article on the Rad Shack meters:

Hmm... I just searched Rad Shack and didnt see the digital multimeter with a serial interface. I know Fluke makes one, and a higher price. But I also know there are cheepies out there for hobbyist usage.

now there's an idea. i did look on radio shack before mailing this
list, but i couldn't find that device. i'll clearly look again now
that i know someone else remembers such a device there. what would
you search on? "ammeter" or "clamp-on" are definitely not it.
