 	At one time, I had a sister-in-law who had rented a house 
in St. Paul previously occupied, so it would seem, by a pair of 
wild-eyed interior decorators. The rooms were all incredibly 
different from one another; one was painted in foot-wide diagonal 
stripes of contrasting colors.

 	Under the stripes, in luminous paint which shone through 
(but only in full dark), was a large picture of a skull. It was a 
weird to sleep in, and weird to wake up in. She used it as her 
guest room.
