 	I have a Hewlett-Packard omnibook XE2 sitting here which
belongs to a friend who says the present M$ has gotten to slow to
stand; and, having booted to it, I concur strongly.

I put a known good F8 live CD into it, and got as far as
"This kernel requires the following features not present on the
CPU : 0:15 Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for
your CPU"

I tried a known good live CD of Ubuntu 7.10.

It shows the same message, without any sign of trying to
boot.

I took out that, and tried booting it with *no* CD. Same
result -- not even an attempt to boot, to anything.

Puppy, same result. DamnSmallLinux, same. I hear the disk
spin, briefly; but afaict, it never even looks at it.

I had to hit Esc during boot to tell it to boot from the
CD; but I don't even get that offer, nor any of the boot displays
you'd expect initially from any computer

What have I done to this dinosaur??
