[Novalug] vi question

List,
I am entering data using vi. It is formatted in a way that a Python
program (which I have yet to write) is to read it. (A field in lines 1-4
(or should that be 0-3?), a field in 6-7, etc.)
One thing that helps me is the fact that a default setting shows what
line and character I am at. But evidently I have changed that setting to
wipe that out.
The only vi reference I have is the chapter on vi in "Linux in a
Nutshell". I haven't spotted the command to get back to the default I
want. Any ideas? Can I say :set to get all default settings? If so, is
that a good idea?
