IMHO, not really.  Simply slightly less overhead and "danger" in that
Perl can do a whole lotta stuff that sed cannot.  "With great power
comes great responsibility." to quote Uncle Ben of "Spiderman" fame.
;-)

And editing by hand with "nano" isn't bad either, since there really
shouldn't be too many occurrences of "user" in each of the three files
you'd be working with.  Maybe two or three per file.
