I looked into it there is a dozen or so OSS and Linux based firewalls and
IDS/IPS.


So my question is is there a recommended one for the group?

Which one do you use?
What kind of hardware does it take to run.?

I am curious because i have a almost "rabid" interest in Security. Want to
know what tools you all use and if you like them.
Just peeking and trying to pick everyone's brains.
Recommended software for:
 Remote desktop
VPN
Virtual Machines
Remote server control

I read Blogs and How To;s like
HOW TO GEEK
Softpedia
Lifehacker
How To Forge
How To ubuntu
And Misc forums


Just curious
Have allot of knowledge i want to absorb and quickly.
I would like to pick up Security based or Linux based job in the near
future.
