I run my business on Ubuntu, both on the servers and clients. I have
one two servers running Ubuntu 6.06LTS; one is a dedicated Samba file
server with the Bacula client installed, and the other runs DHCP, a
caching DNS server for my network, and the Bacula back-end. I also have
a new server now in testing mode running Ubuntu Server 8.04, which will
also be an LTS release. I've had a few issues with Bacula losing the
connection to MySQL, and setting up all of the options for Samba to
allow multiple users in various groups access to files based on uid and
gid took some effort, but that's not an Ubuntu issue.
On the new server I wanted to install eGroupWare to try it out but I
could not get the one in the repository to work correctly. I finally
removed that one and downloaded the .tar.bz2 from the eGroupWare site
and got it installed and working correctly in less than 30 minutes.
The servers have been very stable and I'm happy with them.
