[Novalug] looking for Pentium 3 level laptop for Ubuntu Cheap

I have a project that needs a working pentium 3 level laptop which will be
running Ubuntu. The applications are open office, nedit, gedit, xdosemu and
firefox.

I need to get a cheap machine. I have a 40 gig laptop harddrive
available and of course I do not want to pay for a machine with windoze
installed and have to pay for windoze.

I think Ubuntu needs 1/2 a gig of memory to run well.

Anyone have a machine to sell inexpensiely or know of a good source?

Suprisingly when I googled "used pentium 3 laptops" I found almost
nothing.

Similarly the Baltimore Craig's list was not very useful.

I purchased one such machine (a Sony Vio P3) when I was out in California
last month for $134 (no memory or harddrive) but the store did not have
two at the time. I have called them back.

Thanks for any suggestions. I can drive down to VA to pick up a machine if
someone has one to sell.

One neat thing about Linux - when I got the Vio we popped the harddrive
from my deceased cheap Gateway into it and the thing actually booted into
linux. However the GUI could not come up so I did have to reinstall
Ubuntu from a CD.
