Just FYI,

Todays The Washington Post Business section in Rob Pegoraro Fast Forward
column is on "Short sighted nostalgia for XP". He discusses that now
folks retaining XP over Vista may not be a good idea. He explains his
reasons well. But I call your attention to the last two paragraphs of
the article which I reprint below:

QUOTE:
But the builders of those little laptops don't have to choose between
obsolete or sluggish Microsoft software. Faced with those unappealing
options, many of them are instead loading the more efficient, free and
open-source Linux operating system, which happens to perform many
everyday tasks just as well as Windows does.

If you're unhappy about Vista, don't get sucked in by the misguided
nostalgia for XP. Root for the success of non-Windows computers. Or
buy one yourself. Nothing attracts a company's attention like taking
your business elsewhere.

END QUOTE.

Megan's aside: Open source and free software exists because of the
community willing to work on/develop it and of other people to make use
of it. If you contribute to this effort, yay for you. If no one ever
left a minix environment for a linux one we never would have gotten past
1.0. I thank everyone in the community from developers to on-line
email and web tech guru's who are willing to teach and share their
expertise to corporations willing to build drivers/open specs for
hardware to people with an open mind willing to try something different.

I think that we on the LUG's are all a part of this somewhere. Smile to
yourself and have a nice day.
