No doubt; but now that I have it, I seem to have hit one
of those edges. It kept on endlessly saying it was waiting for
other tasks; I did "ps ax|grep gpk" and found only one process --
with a question mark after the number. I killed that, and the
icon for the update applet disappeared from the panel. But when I
launch it again (from what used to be my pirut icon, which it has
naturally taken over), it *still* claims to be waiting.

How do I find out what it's waiting for? And get a look
at that, to see if it's really doing anything?

Till I do that, I can't even get a look -- to see if, for
instance, I can wipe out all of "education" and "games" at one go
...
