How would one have an application launch/start /run at login?

I've reclaimed a decommissioned PC loaded Ubuntu 8.10 (desktop)
to use as a stand in terminal server client device while the failed unit 
is 'out for repair'..
It was a snap configuring 'tsclient 0.150' to connect to the existing 
server.

Now I want to create a "simplified user experience" such as; the user 
logs in,
and is then presented with a terminal server session.

How can is this be done?
