With Fedora, I simply keep one tab of my gnome-terminal
logged into root under "su - " (knowing that would be a huge
security gap, were there ever any children or strangers in the
house; but there aren't). Then I make it a more or less daily
ritual to kvm my way from machine to machine (and to Jo's by
ssh), doing "yum update" -- except that if a machine has actually
updated anything last time, I do first "yum clean all" then "rpm
--rebuilddb" and finally "yum update" ; I suppose I should add
updatedb into that.
(I know I need not do "rpm --rebuilddb" so often, but I
would otherwise likely forget ever to do it at all.)
