Mark,

A free solution is to use net-snmp. You can script some test cases using  
you favorite language to SNMP get, set, etc.  
http://www.net-snmp.org/wiki/index.php/TUT:snmpget provides an example of  
using net-snmp from the command line to retrieve element data.

can anyone recommend a command line SNMP agent tester? i'm interested
in just testing for the "standard" things. my company offers some
additional MIB values which we are testing, but i should also really
check the other SNMP values.

not sure exactly what i'm looking for, but it'll become part of a
bigger test suite if i can find what it.
