Yeah, if you have DHCP enabled, I'd expect there to be somewhere in there to 
reserve an address so that it gets all the nice DNS & route auto-configuration 
but keeps the address like a static IP.

I've never used one of that model.  I can't remember if default WRT54G firmware 
offers it.  I use dd-wrt.
