[Novalug] boot trick??

I have a Dell PowerEdge SC1420, formerly a server for a
list I help run; when that list moved onto my domain, I inherited
the former server, which is now my #3 PC; it has two hard drives,
not in RAID. I call it BBB, the Big Black Beast.
BBB has only a CD drive internally. I hook an external
Lite-On SOHW 832S USB DVD-RW drive into it. It sees this when
running Fedora 11 (as it has for three or four Fedora releases);
but it does not (any more, iirc) during boot-up, when I try to
use an install medium for Fedora 12.
Isn't there some way I can simply copy the DVD onto one
of the hard drives, if I get it in the right place, and then boot
from there?
