[Novalug] washed-out display

 	The oldest of my PCs, currently connected directly to all
peripherals rather than by way of a KVM switch, still displays a
problem I thought might be due to the switch.

 	It's running Fedora 12, but has had the problem for at
least two previous releases.

 	It looks like an old-fashioned color film shot that was
overexposed: colors way too pale, low contrast, etc. None of my
other three PCs, neither of my thinkpads, nor Jo's PC, nor my
little ASUS 701 does any such thing.

 	The monitor is an hp w2207h 22" 1680x1050; I bought the
PC used in '03 or '04, when such monitors had not been heard of;
I don't know its specs offhand, but will gladly post whatever I
can find.

 	Any thoughts on what could be wrong and what's to do
about it?
