Ah, this is where you learn/encounter the concept of Normalization in
Database Design. Backups may require their own table, and it may be a
Join of other fields on other tables.
Spreadsheets aren't all that bad a solution to inventory. I dunno if
OpenOffice can use a database as a backing store (M$ Excel can), but if
so, you have some extra flexibility/robustness/redundancy.
Perhaps a Webmin module? Or use the whole thing as an excuse to learn
Ruby on Rails.
I haven't looked at the other solutions mentioned, but given the
authors, they are likely to be worthwhile.
