Hmmm - may I suggest a web install then? Download the distro's boot.iso
image, boot off it, and when asked for "media" choose HTTP and point it
to one of the mirrors. Presto, instant install with minimum install.
DVDs have proven great when we've done hand-outs. Full systems, easy
setup, for even hard-core users. But I agree with you a great deal of
the way - we mostly use the media once and then do updates via getapt,
yum etc. after the initial install is done.
