Hoping a fellow user will benefit, I share below my procedure for
installing a Canon Pixma iP100 printer for use under Ubuntu 8.04. I got
this printer to use when traveling - it's nice and compact and prints both
black and color using two cartridges. It took some labor to track down the
drivers and procedure for installing them - they are on a Canon support
site for Asia!

I've not tested the blue tooth yet - just printing via USB.

Go to http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/
Select product from menus
	Prod: Inkjet Printers
	Series: PIXMA
	model: PIXMA IP100
	'document type': Drivers and Software
On the far right,
	Select OS: Linux

Download:
IJPrinter Driver Ver. 2.90 for Linux (debian Common package)
IJPrinter Driver Ver. 2.90 for Linux (debian Package for IP100)

Click on MANUALS tab and download
	Operation Guide . . .

This will yield three files after download:
	File name : guideip100series-pd-2.90-1_en.tar.gz
	cnijfilter-common_2.90-1_i386.deb
	cnijfilter-ip100series_2.90-1_i386

Unpack the Guide to get instructions for installation of the drivers. The
installation instructions I followed were for Ubuntu 7.10 but worked, as
adapted below [my notes are in square brackets - Canon instructions are
preceeded by a tab] [I'm not sure if the first command is needed to
intall].

Distilled Instructions:

Before printing, execute the following command to set up AppArmor (note -
I did this before intalling the drivers but not after re-booting / before
printing so this command is probably NOT needed before printing):
		$ sudo aa-complain cupsd

Connect the printer: Before installing the printer driver, connect the
computer and the printer with a USB cable and turn on the printer. If a
window that prompts you to add a printer is automatically displayed when
you connect the printer, cancel the window by closing it.

[The printer is "recognized" by Ubuntu when plugged in. I opened
System | Admin | Printing
and deleted the IP100 entry that appreared there.]

Install printer driver, sequentially ("common package" first, using dpkg
command from the command line.
		sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-common_2.90-x_i386.deb
		sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-ip100series_2.90-x_i386.deb

	Restart the CUPS daemon.
		sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart

I stopped HERE and did not proceed with "Registering the Printer, etc.,
(command line instructions were given. I used the graphical interface,
	System | Admin | Printing
to set the default printer and print a test page.
