What kernel are you using? Through 2.6.17 (I think...) sky2 would crap out at
high throughput. I always fixed it with:
# modprobe -r sky2
# modprobe sky2
That'll unload and reload it just like what happens to the driver when you
reboot. Or did you already try that and it didn't work? If that doesn't work,
I'm curious about what your system is doing during boot that's different than a
plain modprobe.
