In terms of computer use, "intuitive", is in my opinion based mostly on
past experience. There is nothing in our lives that really mimics using a
computer.

I wonder if there have been any studies about that. I agree with you btw.
When I consider the OS'es I've dealt with and my reaction to them I've been
all over the board.

VM/CMS - only os I *refuse* to have anything to do with. Ever. Period.
VMS - Enjoyed it, but never "thought" VMS. Things seemed to be in odd places
Unix/Linix - took to like a duck to water
Amiga - thoroughly enjoyed - Intuition (the OS layer that is) seemed exactly that
Windows - use as little as possible. Have done registry surgery by hand on my
wife's PC to fix some things, and it "mostly" worked... Disclaimer - I have
issue with Microsoft that border on the moral/theological...
OS X - like the user experience, programming it has been on the 'now why'd they
         do/not do that? <grumble, hunt up workaround>

Be interesting to see if nay studies have been done correlating how a person thinks
with the OS's they like. Might be a thesis for a psych/comp sci project....
